2021 Recap — January to April
Part I: Hi! Here’s the first part of my 2021 recap.
January: I was still riding on the euphoria of my engagement. The proposal was on November 1st, 2020. We thought we would have a destination wedding so I was looking at dresses, checking for venues and vendors. I was optimistic that the virus and policies would not restrict us from having our wedding the way we wanted. I was also looking forward to continuing habits I had been consistent with in 2020 like writing, exercise, and activity in the little ways I could be active. The urgency to do what I could when I could was still a fresh lesson from 2020.
February: February was when family members advised us to plan the wedding where we reside and without them. We realized that the wedding wouldn’t be the way we wanted it and we would need to improvise. In February, I traveled by air for the first time since the pandemic hit. It was surreal and exciting to travel even though it was to renew my passport. I did feel uncertain and a bit apprehensive about the possibility of exposing myself to the virus. I was able to visit a family dear to me, since they lived where I went to get my passport. I had a great experience, especially realizing how much the restrictions were affecting relationships. As well, I reaffirmed how freeing and cathartic traveling is for me.
