How to deal with Fall during Covid-19

When the weather turns, your energy declines, love seems ephemeral, and the world has taken a turn…you don’t know how things will work out. Know that things have to work out, you have to survive, and you need to navigate the turn life has taken. The best way to do so is to engage.

There is melancholy in the air that the cooler weather, less daylight hours, cloudy skys, and withering plants ushers in. Change is happening yet you may feel like you are still at the same point you were in March when things closed up and Covid-19 hit. Nothing seems better. You may have lost your job, dealt with children, altered your way of life, and things may have taken a bad turn. You may have been able to reconnect with family and friends, received benefits, and recharged/reset/regrouped. Everything feels better but is not improving. The one thing you need to do is engage.

Engage in conversations, engage in activity, engage in life. Engage because engaging opens up your mind to changes and embraces them. The cycle of life continues and you can whine, complain, lay down in defeat, or you can feel down, like complaining and whining but decide to act differently. Act from a place that understands that you need to make an effort and God will bless it and grant you the grace to feel joy.

Engage in the way leaves change from green to yellow to burgundy/brown.

Enjoy the shadows and rest in the darkness.

Embrace the inertia of emotion and the effort it takes to jostle your heart into feeling.

Engross yourself in traveling out of your comfort zone, through books, and with your imagination.

Enrich yourself with the will to live and live well. Live by giving and being a breath of kindness, grace, and fesh air.

Ensure that you take care of yourself. Drink water, take vitamins (especially D), and exercise.

Dream.

Fall is here and although we may have experienced Fall before everything is a bit new because of the circumstances and climate we live in. The chaotic and negative atmosphere surrounding the elections in the US, the deaths and riots, and the pandemic make this Fall different. We cannot be indifferent to the presence of war, unrest, and tragedy although they have been present in the world for a while now. We have been able to ignore these things but not anymore. Be aware of the changes in your body, lethargy, weakness, and stress.

For the Fall lovers, more power to you. We enjoy your positivity and we hope that you can keep up the good work and help us enjoy the season as much as you do.

Thank you for reading this! Please clap and share!
