How to get Ahead in Life

It’s interesting that you wanted to read this based on the title. You want to be successful and feel accomplished, right? You want to leave a legacy behind too. I know. We are on the same page.

What does getting ahead mean? It means you can create one of the YouTube videos that showcases you making money, while you vacation. Getting ahead also means being invited to the Grammy’s or whatever big event makes you feel relevant in the world. Getting ahead, typically means that you have money and affluence. Getting ahead places you parallel to someone else each time.

I am dripping with sarcasm incase you hadn’t noticed.

I watched Letterman’s interview of Kanye West and apart from the fact that I was confronted with the humanity of each individual, famous or not. Kanye West seemed human and not larger than life, as fame has a way of stripping the humanity from people. I was struck by his statement, “my power is my ability not to be influenced,” Kanye said. I think this is a beautiful statement but it is lacking in a fundamental understanding of human nature. We cannot survive without companionship. And influence thrives in companionship.
