Letters
Things to do during the COVID-19 Staycation
I had a thought! I hope it’s not too much work for you to do. I refer to myself too when I use the pronoun ‘you’. I thought about people that were waiting to find out if they had the corona virus. I wandered what they would think to do as they waited. Would they try to put their affairs in order? Did they write wills, attempt to cross things off a bucket list, did they were dying or did they do nothing?
Have you been doing pretty much nothing during this season, as you wait for things to go back to normal? You should not be waiting… things should not go back to normal. We should all change. We must all maximize and remember this time… right?
I had an idea, which may or may not have been influenced by “To All the Boys I loved Before.” What if there was a letter writing challenge? In addition to the push up, squat, and the numerous tiktok videos, could there be a letter writing challenge? I have a list of letters to write and there is really no obligation to send these letters off, but I think writing them would be beneficial:
- to help us remember the people we hold dear
- remember what and why certain things and people mean so much to us
- to appreciate peoples’ presence in our lives
- to have an inexpensive gift to give the addressees in the future (5 to 10 years from now) that they will value
- as physical evidence of time well spent while social distancing
The list goes on.
Here are some letters to write that will certainly be beneficial to me and you once they are written:
- a letter to God
- a letter to my dad
- a letter to my mum
- a letter to my siblings
- a letter to a current or future significant other
- a letter to a relative that passed on
- a letter to a teacher or prof that impacted your journey positively
- a letter to your current or future children
- a letter to your pastor
- a letter to your best-friends
The list too can be as long as you want it to be!
I will dedicate the month of April to letter writing and I hope you do so as well. I have written multiple letters to God in the past and trust me, he knows what you write to him and he responds. He actually loves the written form of communication. I hope you and I are proactive and we can maximize this season of rest and communion with God, family, and friends.
