Recovering from Negligence

I haven’t been as productive as I would have liked to be this week. I didn’t read any book or finish writing what I intended to write. (I’m not hopeless!) I did complete a financial course and I spend time with my peoples this week. I neglected my love for reading books this week, which led me to think of students (I don’t know how I made the connection). It’s midterm season and I thought about students who may not have done well or were negligent and are worried about the prospect of finals.

Negligence is an inability to be particular, precise, or intentional about things. Negligence can apply to academics, friendships, self-improvement, healthy living (exercise and a healthy diet), spirituality, parenting, and any aspect of life really. I have exposed myself to crime documentaries and the unpleasant occurrences in the world today and my reflection points to negligence as the root cause of a lot of things. Neglect leads to failure, regret, self doubt, sadness, and anxiety. The initial instinct could be to jump ship. One could blame others for impending failure or relax and let the ship sink, or feign indifference.

However, there are things to do to mitigate the effect of negligence in the long run.
